Overstimulation happens when the world becomes too loud, too busy, or just too much. For introverts, it’s the result of taking in more sensory input than we can comfortably process. Too many conversations, bright lights, or even an overwhelming to-do list.
When overstimulated, we might feel anxious, irritable, or desperate for a quiet space to regroup. Recognizing this feeling is the first step to finding calm again.
How to Cope with Overstimulation:
- Step away from the source of overwhelm, if you can.
- Find a quiet, dimly lit space to ground yourself.
- Breathe deeply, letting each exhale carry some of the tension away.
Overstimulation is your mind’s way of asking for peace. Listen to it.
