Also at the restaurant before leaving I managed to speak to the new Owner, who I was aware of due to a Newspaper press release last week or so. I met this person a year and a half ago, while purchasing fruit from a roadside vendor. At that time, I helped carry some boxes of fruit to their vehicle. I utilised this opportunity to not only say hello, but also offer the opportunity to for future collaboration or work opportunities of some sort ( gotta keep the options open in this little town , and It's a good start to put into practice my message above, of trying to do more for myself and put myself in positions where my presence is of value and wanted.
When I round the corner and saw them and greeted them, it was that fantastic moment of recognition - I encouraged them with "you'll get it", and showing my knowing and sureness. And then, they said my name. Well , alright, a letter off , but maybe Misheard anyway 😉😌
It was just pleasant knowing that I am remembered, not merely but accurately, specifically.
Not sure if it is worth mentioning but I did note down their names (of the couple / the business owner) back when I met them. And in the months after that, I would occasionally go look at their names if I had forgotten them.
Why? - Well, with the intention to greet them by name, should I run into them again one day.
The likelihood sure isn't great. But I just had a feeling, followed that - and today turned out all the way it did.
*_ This paragraph could seem out of place but in the months ahead perhaps it could be purposeful.
It's unfortunate because name recollection is something I do struggle with myself, but here I am on the receiving end - seeing how powerful and important it is. And then 2 minutes later they introduced me to another person and I just totally let their name go over my head, and when I got to my car I felt a rather slightly poignant sensation at my lack of name-exchanging skills.
So here's me challenging myself to do better on that 🏹
Thank you for the chats and time all!
See you 🌴
